I'm 99% sure that clutching & gearing stays the same from the 153 to the 162, it only changes when you go to the 141 (crossfire).

Pretty much everything else is the same, even with a different leverage ratio on the rear stock, I'm pretty sure the valving is the same as well.

I run BDX 55/65 gears in my 1000 and love it. I;m 215-220 dressed, ride 10-12,000 elev.., Colorado and Wyoming powder, Full Speedwerx, 14.5 RKT head, 153 PC. Sled is rock solid and a smile every mile!........every carve too!

Now the clutching and gearing do they go hand in hand or can you switch one and not the other? its fun with the 153 1000 but im in basicly all mountains so im switching to a 162. If im correct there is no more track speed with a 153 than on a 162 right if the gearing/ clutching is the same.

I talked to the guys at OVS- and they stated no benefit to gear lower than 58/62

drop two teeth- no more, no measureable benefit
they also stated i would not see very noticeable difference in track speed or ability to climb better or higher with the 58/62 gears on my 09 m1000 162 with full SLP setup including clutching, airbox, and PC5-- not really worth the xtra $250 they said. but it's just an opinion

I wouldn't go lower than 57/63 with your mods and elevation.

Im all for more mods but $250 for a barly noticable gain due to gearing im not sure.

The only concern really would be belt life with the stock gearing.

On my 08 M1000 i did 57/63 and it was really noticable for a bone stock sled, i recomend it.

I think i would rather put the $250 to another engine mount like on the 08 or towards a Diamond S hood?
