You might be able to find a lower profile 12v fan at a rv parts store. I found mine on Amazon under 12v ceiling fan.
Where did you put the diesel tank?I wanted a little workbench in the nose of the trailer. Wall cabinets were the perfect depth. Raising the wall cabinets up off the floor about a foot put the workbench at the right height and gave me room for the heater, house battery, voltage converter, and fusebox.
Love the little heater! And with all of the trim in place, nobody even knows it's there.
Diesel tank is mounted to the outside. I considered mounting it under the floor, but didn't want to accidently put a screw through it. I also want it to be accessible so it's easy to fill up. I am considering fabricating something a little more elegant, and preferably bigger so that I don't have to fill it up as often.
Looks nice. I know the heaters come with an exhaust pipe meant to go through the floor but I was considering routing the exhaust out the sidewall possibly, depending upon where I end up placing the heater, so my kids can use the exhaust to warm up their hands while we outside the trailer. Plus, I have some concerns that venting the exhaust out the floor will cause the pipe to rust out quick from salt. Maybe I am overthinking it - I tend to do that - haha. Seems like the exhaust pipe that comes with them are pretty cheap though. Mind snapping a few pics of your exhaust below the trailer? How about your tank setup? I was also considering mounting the tank outside. Did you thru bolt the tank to the studs of your trailer or just secure them with self-tappers? It's my understanding that a mix of kerosene and diesel will help reduce gelling. Thanks for the reply!
Did you mount your heater up on the wall then?
Gotcha. I cant decide where the heck I want to mount mine. I have a 29' v nose with front and rear ramps. I am worried that it will be in the way if its on the floor. The trailer is new to me so I will probably test fit the sleds in it and then decide. I still really like the idea of routing the exhaust through the wall so m kids can use it to warm their hands while outside the trailer if need be. Not to mention it just seems like a better more professional install IMO
This is kind of what I had in mind; mounting it high on the wall. Although I won't be ducting, at least not for now, so I would just extend the duct low so I don't end up with a hot ceiling and cold floor. How long has he had the exhaust run through the wall? any issues with soot on the side of the trailer?
The tank is attached with self-tapping screws. Admittedly this setup was (and is) considered somewhat temporary, so I didn't put much effort into it. We'll see how long the "temporary" setup stays in place.
