154 or a 163

My girl friend has been riding a 08 XP 163 for the past 3 years and she is now going to upgrade to an used 13 or 14 XM. But she is unsure if she should go with the 154 or the 163 (lots of 154's for sale in our area but not many 163's).

She is only 5' tall so I know the XM will help her a bunch with the handling over the XP. She is NOT a TRAIL QUEEN, she likes to boondock and hill climb. She can ride just as well as most of the guys in our group and better then some of them LOL.

I think she will like the quicker weight transfer and handling of the 154 but the extra floatation of the 163 is also nice as we are always willing to drive to the powder.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Unless she is 200 lbs the 154" is more than enough track for her. I would think that for that size of Rider a 146" would do everything she needs.

I'm 6', 230lbs. Have road the 154 since 08 on both the xp and xm, and if it was offered on the T3, I would have snow checked it. She will be fine on the 154, and really, the 146 is probably going to be more fun to her IF she is as good of a rider that you say she is.

I'm 6'4" 170lbs and ride a 154. Typically just get stuck when I make mistakes. Not interested in going longer, used to ride a 174. 146 sounds like a wheelie machine, though fun. I'd go 154 again myself, but really neither is going to be a bad choice.

She'll be happier with less work on a 163. As she gets better and gets more & more solid, then think about a 154.

Size is generally a non issue unless someone is huge, but SKILL and level of work required to get through the day without problems is what it's all about.

My wife had a turbo before me, and will always ride a longer sled than me... she weighs just over 1/2 what I do.

She's going to LOOOVE how much easier the XM is to ride though compared to that pos 08 :D
