I'll prob catch chit for this but has anyone put a older cat 8-900 motor into a pro yet? Thinking on my next build but my 925BB lay down motor won't fit.

It can be done. I think PAR make an engine plate and I'm not sure on the pipes. Had a buddy that was going to go that direction and went with a turbo Pro instead.

I know it can be done, anything can be done with enough time and $$$! Lol. Just seeing if there was first hand experience yet. I have NPP just down to road so the pipe thing prob wouldn't be to bad. And I'll into that other link. Thanks guys but keep anymore info coming

Just to be clear, that's a 1000 based on the 8/900, not the M1000 motor. So it's pretty much exactly what the OP was asking about.

Yes, 800-900 based! I don't think you could make the lay down motors fit. I've got a message out to Curtis looking for info. I'm thinking 975BB with a big single. Lots of low end torque and gearing for in the trees, not much of a climber!

a local guy started it but ran into clearance issues with something. the motor would have sat higher than he wanted. i'll ask him specifically what was in the way

Looks like carb clearance could be an issue maybe? 1150 in a Pro would make me hard. :face-icon-small-sho

Do they make fuel controllers for those older systems? Back then we just ran carbs cause there was not a reliable fuel controller for the EFI systems.

There are boondocker controllers for both the 800 and 900 EFI. Also, aren't there some that just go right on the injectors? Those should be pretty universal.

We are doing the 975 big bore with a single in the Dragon (carbed). One of my buddies is doing a stock 900 EFI, and he actually had more trouble with clearance than we did. Throttle bodies are wider than the carbs.

The only issues I have with the 1150s and bigger are finding parts for them. That's mostly why we've stuck with the 975s. No current stock motor (non-turbo) feels even close, and parts are easy to come by.

You might be able to use some angled carb boots, to help with clearance.

A friend of mine races a Pro rmk with cat 800HO/DD900cc bigbore engine. Dont know how difficult it was to mount. He never mentioned it being hard though.

Does anyone know if Ski-Doo carb boots will fit the Cat reeds? They make some angled ones that might let you get the engine a little lower without the carbs hitting the bulkhead.
