I absolutely HATE Chevys, but for your budget I think that's the best option in an 06-07 Classic Duramax. Too many things to go wrong with the Ford 6.0 and 6.4, and I don't think I've ever heard of a friend with a Dodge that hasn't lost the tranny in it, as well as riding the worst and being by far the loudest with a tiny backseat. Every single Chevy I've ever been around (friend, family, neighbor, company rig) has had some type of electrical problem... EVERY single one.
I'm absolutely LOVING my 2012 F-350 6.7L, but you're going to have to pay more than you're budget allows to get into one. I've got 144,000 on mine, picked it up 2 years ago with 109K on it and have done nothing but drive it and change the oil every 5K miles. DEF is a non-issue as long as you let it do it's thing when it wants to regen. My 2 years of combined city/highway and trailer towing is 15.6mpg in the last 35K miles... have seen up to 18 on the highway empty, around town, or towing my trailer averages 12 for a combined of 15.5-16. Totally Stock.
There WAS a great deal on an 07 Chevy BUT it fell thru.
Looking at a 06 Dodge Mega cab 5.9 Cummins auto 4speed 4wd with 40 gallon CNG. 160,000 miles for 20 grand. New front end, tires and tranny.
Trying to figure out what are the safety / smog issues for CNG.
400 plus mile range on HWY with CNG getting 50plus MPG ? Is this possible?
