Turnagain 2011/12 opener

I spoke to a guy from CNF today at Marita's open house. He said "the snow is accumulating nicely" and that it has a good moisture content so it's setting up a good base.

CNF management has set Nov 23rd as the scheduled opener. Barring a warming event and melt-off there will be riding by T-day.

Turnagain update

A solid source told me that Turnagian will not be open on the 23rd. It seems this wind event blew much of the snow out of the area. I was up there on Friday and it is pretty shallow (like 18") around the p-lot.
The Snotel site on Center ridge is recording 29", and that's 400-500 feet above the parking lot.

The last stretch of clear, cold and windy weather has wrecked havoc on the snow pack in south central AK. If you do venture out and find some decent riding remember to watch out for those wind loaded slopes.
