I took 3 rookies riding today. Had a great time until it got too cold for the kids.

I don't do the social media thing because I'm still pissed they stole the pound sign. #1. Is that number one or hashtag one? Get your own symbol.?

Took my daughters boyfriend out last winter. Grew up in Florida and is currently stationed at Ellsworth Air Force Base in Rapid City, SD. His expectations were it was going to be easy. He operated all kinds of watercraft. At the end of the day he commented it was the hardest thing he had ever done. Got him stuck, over exerted himself at an elevation not used to and tossed his McDonalds lunch. He cannot wait to go again this winter.

Sorry I do not tweet.

Great idea! I introduce at least one rookie to the mountains every season. Here's one from this time last year. Teaching my bud to sidehill. He rocked it! Bringing another rookie out in a week.

Got so many good stories with newbies. Brought a bud out for the first mountain experience about 3 years ago. Took him to Jackknife creek, on the Idaho/Wyoming border. Some of you might know the technicals of that area. I'm usually nice to the rookies, but this area was a bit much for him. He had to walk 200 yards straight up a steep and deep mountainside, because he couldn't make it up with the sled. That took a while, but it was the only way out. He can't wait to go back...

I took a friend last year a couple of times on my sons sled. He bought this year. A friend I took the year before that bought 3 for his family this year. I don't know about you guys, but one thing I do and have done for years is I tell the guys starting if they buy a sled I will loan them whatever gear they need. They give it back as they buy gear. They keep it dry and clean. After 30 years of this I have lots and lots of gear. I expect I have 3 coats, 2 bibs, 2 helmets, 3 pairs of gloves, 3 goggles, and 2 pairs of boots out on loan right now. I am always happy to pull a full trailer. It's a stupid expensive hobby, but I love it and I love sharing it with others. There is a couple of older guys in our group. We always take our trailers. I never let the kids pay for gas I always say "you can dig me out that is payment enough." Pay it forward.
Sorry I also suck at social media, and posting pics!

Took my cousin out last year. I always try and introduce new people to the sport. I gave him the gear and sled to use. He was shocked at how hard it is, he was dying half way through the day. He got so tired he could hardly hold on to the sled by the end of the day.

I'm taking one of my son's friends on Tuesday. He's 14.
Going to put him on 2016 Polaris Axys 600. Much better than an Enticer or Jag or something. Lol.

I'm also taking an old college buddy out on Friday. He hasn't been out yet and he's already bought a 509 helmet and goggles. I think he's headed to Kurt's Polaris on Weds to buy pants and jacket. Haha.
He's already also contemplating whether he is going to buy a 163 or a 174 (he's 6'3" 270).
I've got a fish on!!! Haha he's so jacked.

It's fun taking out a rookie. We were all rookies at one time!
The day you think you are better or smarter than someone because they are new to the sport is the day you need to hang it up. There has been more than one time I have learned a thing or two from a rookie. :clock:

Will make more of an effort to get some newbies out this winter! There was a time when I had extra machines around because of having kids still at home, so it maybe time to pick up a nice Polaris 600 mtn sled.:face-icon-small-coo

Today was great. Took my son's buddy up to Lolo Pass. Three feet of dry blower fresh.
I'll get pics up tomorrow if I can.
Couldn't wipe the smile off his face.

My son is in the red coat, riding the white/black 2018 Polaris 800.
His friend is the tall one on the red/white 2017 Polaris 600.

Our rookie's mom texted me on Thursday and said he was pretty sore.
But it's all he's been talking about since his ride.
Haha.

A couple old coworkers took their families out last year. This kid is about 12 years old, first time riding a snowmobile in the mountains, and I talked him into going off this small drift. He only got about 6 inches off the ground, but still asks to see the video yet today.

We try to take new guys out at least once a year. This year I’ve sold sleds to guys that have never been out, sold multiple sets of gear to guys that are new to the sport, and checked sleds over for first timers. Gave them all tips on where to stay for the areas they’re looking to ride, and enjoy seeing the excitement they get about their first trip coming up. Makes it a good reminder why to help out your local clubs and associations.

Had 3 new ladies with us over New Years. I guess what surprised me was the negative comments from other people when I mentioned that we were taking new riders with us. :face-icon-small-con Everyone had a blast!

Newbs here with me and one of our sons. My boy is on my Pro. My buddy and one of his sons, it's their second time. The boy almost crapped his pants he was so excited when I invited them out again this year.
Unfortunately I'm pretty sure they won't be getting into the sport anytime soon, but I bet Tyler does once he grows up. He is blown away by snomobiling!
