Bought a new to me MTX 162 sidewinder end of last season. It’s a 2019 model year but was built in 2018 so has the old style controls.

Planning on getting the Iceage Elevate, Stryker uppers, Zbroz lower a arms, CFR bars, thunder products 911 cover, push button start(my own design)…I probably will install the Syncro belt drive from Specialty Sleds in Edmonton. See if I can convince myself to lose reverse.

So far I upgraded the throttle, brake assy, & kill switch to 2019. Also moved the switch’s down using Polaris toggle switches using the Canada sled parts switch holder.

I built a Vapor blaster using water and glass bead to clean aluminum parts and clutch’s. Wow i what a difference.

Really polished the aluminum.

I wanted the handlebars a bit taller than the 5.5” it comes stock…so decided to use 4” cfr risers and boondocker bars with 2” rise. Gets me to 6” and a bit forward.

Push button start i use a relay and a timer relay(to kill power to switch after 20sec). I got a skidoo shot start button on this one. Last 2 I used the xm brake and rer assy.

Works slick with no issues.

Thanks!! Yeah I’m excited for the upcoming season. Thought this thread might help people change stuff up on their Yamahas and Cats.

I spent a better part of a day freshening up some of he parts that the powder coat had flaked off. I had this powder left from my daughters phazer build I did a few years back and was a pretty close match.

Also replaced some rivets in the tunnel with powder coated ones as the cat rivers tend to lose their coating and rust.

Well got my iceage elevate, and zbroz lowers. It’s looking like they won’t work together without some modifications.

The zbroz lowers and iceage Stryker uppers both move the spindle more vertical so the steering rod hits the shock before full lock.

Also the way the zbroz arm is enclosed at the ball joint and iceage spindle is different at the ball joint it actually binds before full compression. Bummer.

Powder coated the iceage uppers. They turned out fantastic.

Used the hurricane tool to check alignment and it was off. Looked behind the primary and seen that it was almost rubbing on the bolts that hood the stub shaft in. Looks like the bearing moved a bit. There was lots of belt shrapnel when I bought the sled.

Man that is going to be a fun ride when you get it together! Bummer on the parts not fitting quite right, but that is part of the fun with building a mod sled. I really enjoyed my Nytro build and my viper is no slouch either. There is something to be said for that 4 stroke power when you roll into the throttle and it just keeps pulling and pulling.

Removed the stub shaft , pressed out the bearing, cleaned , green loctite and installed. There is a lower spline when your reassembling.

Vapour blasted the primary…way better than it was. Covered up all the important parts with duct seal so grit wouldn’t get in the buttons and bushing.

Working on the rear skid. Powder coated the arms as the cat paint is terrible for falling off and rusting.

Got my primary back together and installed.
Vapor blasted and 911 cover.

Project stalled waiting for belt drive but got things going now.

Pretty much finished. Also bought a used mountain max …finished with the boards and elevate on that one…just need to install the wrap.

Well finally got enough snow to get the SW and MM out. Both sleds worked great.

The sidewinder with the elevate kit and belt drive is very impressive. Definitely a must have for that sled.
