Going up to Revy mid month and wanted to make sure we have everything needed to cross the border. What are they going to want to see for the sleds?

Insurance and plates/registration.

Some will say you don’t need it, never been checked in over 20 years, blah blah blah. But in the end of the day, it’s your ticket IF you get checked. We have, twice and they wanted to see the registration.

My question is…….do I have to have a passport or will a valid Utah drivers license work?

I went from Montana to Revy to Alaska and back in 2019 with two sleds and gear on a flatbed pickup. Took a couple of dogs with me as well so had to do a bit of research. To be covered you'll need a passport and registration for the sleds to prove ownership. You also are restricted on how much fuel and alcohol you can cross with if you are bringing your own. Had to have vet certifications for my dogs as well. I don't know if it was because everything was in plain view on the back of the truck or just luck of the draw, but they checked our passports at each border crossing, asked if I had records for the dogs one time but never looked at them, and that was it. Didn't check registration on sleds or the truck, or want to look in our coolers. Pretty painless. I suspect it gets a lot tougher if they do ask for something and you don't have it though!

Our dmv tells us not to trust or waste our time on enhanced dl as not all accept it.
Go get a passport to leave the country is their advice.

Anyone from anywhere entering Canada needs a passport. Same as anyone not from US entering there needs one

What documents are needed to cross into Canada by car?

When you enter Canada, a Canada Border Services Agency officer may ask to see your passport and a valid visa, if one is necessary. If you are a citizen of the United States over the age of 16, you will need a Passport, a Passport Card or Enhanced Driver's Licence (only issued by certain states) to enter Canada.

Unlike EDLs, REAL ID-compliant licenses alone are not sufficient to cross international borders even if a state gives its REAL ID-compliant licenses a similar name. EDLs are available to U.S. citizens who reside in the states of Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Vermont, and Washington.
