Life Expectancy of 2018 Summit X

C
Going to look at my first sled later this evening. It's a 2018 Summit X with 3,000 miles. How many more miles could I expect out of this sled? I'm guessing it could use a topper, but after that, good for another 3,000? What's your experience with these rev4 skidoos in terms of life expectancy?

On top of the mountain
2017- blown primary at 2000 miles
2018- blown secondary at 2200 miles
2019- sold at 1700 with no damage
20.5 turbo- exploded rollers at 1500 miles
21 turbo- no issues at 1300 miles

This is personal experience with 850’s. I have a buddy that blew motors on 2017&2018 both at 3100 miles this year.

It really depends on how hard it was used & and how well it was taken care of.

Judging by the pics, ridden by a young buck, ridden hard, put away wet. I think I already have my answer here, this could be a money pit. But at $5,500 is that a decent deal? I'm just worried I'm going to blow the engine at 3,500 and be SOL.

Looking to spend about 5-6k on the best used mountain sled I can find. I'm thinking I may need to switch to a 16+ M8000 to find something with low miles.

I would stay away. They are way to expensive to rebuild. Take the 5500 + 3500 mimimum you'll need to put into it and go find a nicer sled with low miles.

On my 2019 Summit X, all mountain miles it seized at 3006Km but I know of summits that have 5000km and still running.

All depends, I’ve seen a couple go 5k plus original everything. I have a few friends with 3-4K miles without too many major problems. My 19 850 with all mountain miles lost a rod bearing at 2,900 miles and warranty is putting a short block in it. I keep up pretty well on maintenance and was surprised my 19 went down, kind of a toss up. If there is no maintenance records or it’s a rental stay away. It could work out ok, I guess I’d be tempted to at least put a top end in it upon purchase.
