Got to have ducttape and big oversized Zipties, and a smaller assortment of zipties.

I can't count the number of times I have used both to get out of the woods..........

If you want to be prepared, practice, practice, practice with your transciever. Don't just turn it on, find two beacons at once. Bury your beacon with some beer and beef jerkey and get your buddy to find it. It'll make you way less useless in a pressure situation.

A pot to boil water in. Chicken Bouyon Cubes, and little coffee singles, and beef jerky, bars, and chocolate.

Shake light, road flare, two tarps, rope, fire starter, candles, lots of matches, SPOT, cell phone (remember, they can ping your phone, even when you can't see a tower), saw, multitool, zips, GRS radio, shovel, probes, avy beacon.

Wow, i guess i'm the only one carrying tampoons?

Must be, cause i ride with BOHICA.

Recommend a large metal camping mug, if your can make fire, you can melt snow for drinking and cooking.

Wrap up your most valuable item ex. spare radio/gps/spot in a large towel and stuff it in the tin mug.

Great thread. I also carry Purell hand sanitizer to help start the fire quickly. The high ethyl alcohol content make it really easy to start a fire with a flint stick. In fact I've started carrying the new hand saniter wipe because it can replace the need for a lot of paper. The other fire starting trick is a 9V battery and steel wool, just touch the connections and the wool starts on fire rather easily. Just a couple of suggests because using a flint stick is a good realiable way to start a fire but can also be tricky if you don't practice, so the hand sanitizer makes it easy.
