hello all
I am in the process of swapping a 1998 700 twin into a 2002 800 rmk chassis. And I got a few wiring questions....like can I swap the stator/CDI from the 2002 800 into the 700 case? that way I can just plug it in and go. Or will I have to wire the old 98 rmk system into the this chassis? This swap seems to be moving along pretty good. I dig that about the polaris's they are just easy to do this kind of stuff too...:face-icon-small-hap I picked this 02 chassis up for a song(guy at work blew it up and needed a lawn tractor..lol) and I got lucky and had just rebuilt the 700 in my wife's 98 rmk...so I figure this way I can keep her from stealing my edge every time we go riding......So I gotta make sure that this thing runs perfect and every little detail is just right so it is uber reliable.lol:face-icon-small-win Or I will never here the end of it( at least it would be in good humor) I know I will be just thrilled that I will be getting away from them damn useless kehin carbs and moving over to some nice flatslides, which brings me to my next question good base line for jetting it would be???We ride from 5,500 to 8,000ft in temps from 19-32degrees motor is stock with a can and slp airbox top...
any advice would be awsome

thanks
damen

You can't use the 02 electrics, you have to use the 700 electrics. They will plug in just fine to the chassis. If you bring all the 700 electrics, coils and everything, it will match up.

You will have some other changes to make too... Are you going to use the 800 carbs? I think they are different in the needles and needle jets than the 2001 700 that had flatslides.

You'll have to put on the 800 carb adapters to get the carbs to sit in the air box right. And you'll have to fiddle with the y-pipe. You can actually buy a y-pipe off the 01 XC as it was a non-VES motor in an Edge chassis.

Doesn't the 98 x 700 RMK get around 6 miles per gallon on a groomed trail, verses the 10 to 12 mpg for an 02 VES edge on a groomed trail?
