So I have a chance to pick up a Yeti 129 SS kit at a fair price so I'm considering building a lightweight spring time, lower snow ride, I will keep one of my YZ 450s for deep days. The kit is already set up for a KTM so I'm thinking either a 300 or a 350. I do like 2 strokes and kind of miss my CR500 but not the maintenance and vibrations from that thing. Pros and cons of each bike as a dedicated snowbike. Another thing I'm leaning towards is an XC with a 6 speed.

Make sure you put the 18 drivers and brake kit on it because of icing... if it was me I would have a 2 stroke and 4 stroke.... that is what I did so I am partial... with a base that 2 stroke is a ball... also spring I like it better than the 4 stroke....the small bore is way better than the cr500 for vibes ...I also have had both...

I have 2 buddies with 300s on snowbikes. One is a 19 300xc and the other is a 20 tx300i. Both do great. They are both on aro's.

I would think a 350 would be great as well. I loved my 350 and it has a lot of revs in each gear. You will be shifting more on the 2 strokes.

I've had a 350 and a 250sx on my 2015 120sx. It only had a 2" track. The 350 workd great but the 250sx was way more fun. It would have to be pretty dang deep for a 450 to have any advantage at all. The 250 just stayed wide open all the time and loved it. Don't turn down a deal on a 250. The extra 30cc of the 300 just makes you ride like an old man... you end up going slower trying to make use of the pathetic mid range and then finally realize you have to rev to go fast then the 300 doesn't rev as good as a 250 unless you mod it. Our group has a pretty even mix of 250s and 300s. You can always tell which is which. The 250s are always going faster, they encourage speed, the 300s encourage lazyness.

Deep down I'm fundamentally lazy. LOL that's a good thought though I will keep an eye out for a 250 as well. In the perfect world my wife would ride this bike as well so I can finally sell all the stupid sleds we have (good riddance) so maybe the 4T might be a more forgiving option for her. I'm going to try her out on my 18 YZ due to the e start and see how it goes. She rides street bikes and has had dirt bikes in the past so maybe...….. The main goal is it has to be light as in super light like a toy.

SS should be great with either. 2 stroke will feel lighter, but 350 revs way higher. I am setting up a SS on a full mod 300.
