Ok, I'm just gonna give away a great idea for scratchers.

Had this idea 10 years ago and I did nothing with it......

Scratchers with a replaceable carbide tip (Stud for a track for example)

Stud wears out, you screw a new one in its place........

Come on!! Someone please make these (Maybe they already are, who knows!)

Duraflex scratchers (previously slide kicks...cable style) have a replaceable carbide tip...

Maybe the profit margin is better for complete scratchers rather than just carbide tips so manufactures decided not to make them?

I would like to see these new scratchers in action on snow to see how they really work. The look like they could still bite in on a <S>soft </S>trail and fold back like regular spring type??? Just asking. Very cool to see a new idea!

If it's a soft trail, you shouldn't need scratchers in the first place........

but who stops and puts up thier scratchers the second you hit softer snow? heck sometimes i forget i even have them down until i get off the sled and see they're down. what i always thought someone should make is a cover to go over the reverse button, put the cover on when you put the scratchers down and then theres no way to back up. sounds simple enough.

maybe i need to get to work on my million dollar idea, 2 cents worth of plastic and sell them for $29.99:) of course would come with a cool sticker that adds 10hp!!! patent pending...

everybody has ridden a banged out trail ride home off the mountain
LOTS of times its hard packed - especially early season and spring

Last year i tested normal scratchers on my Pro and WITH them down, it dropped temps over 20ºF .... so a scrather does make a big difference

these are pretty innovative IMO and a great price
cheap insurance I think

Velcro, fuzzy side either side of the reverse button, scratchers go down velcro (stiff side) goes over the button. Works as a good reminder, but I do like these new scratchers, Summitseeker I'll PM ya'.

No kidding...... I didn't say that scratchers aren't needed. I was responding to another post.

I second the Duraflex scratchers. Have left them down all the time, loading/ unloading, trail, soft snow, rocks, don't ever have to think about them. You can put them up though if you're pulling into a shop or something so you don't damage the floor. They cooled my sled on an icy trail by 3-4 bars consistently, no matter how slow I was going, there's a lot of downward pressure. Think it will be quite a while before the tip needs replaced, they still look great.
