Which lightweight hood now a days?

Looking into a hood/headlight delete for my 2012 HCR 800. Prefer to keep it under the $300 range. When I searched the threads it seems the favorite ones are no longer available or more money then I want to spend.
The options I found are

Skinz airframe, didn’t find much reviews on it. Wondering on strength and weight savings? Can it take some rolls like the stock hood. Read possibly 12ish pound savings?

Mountain fit kit which you cut up your stock hood. 7ish pound savings.

Mountain fit replacement hood. Looks fragile and read it melts easy. Need to come up with or buy an intake. Also a prefer the look of the sled with my white hood panels.

Anybody have experience with any of these options? Or any other ones I’m missing? Thanks

Thanks I missed that one. I’ve read that they use frog skinz vents which are easier to rip and that the mountain fits are a little more durable?

Anyone seen or used both?

I used the BDX kit, haven't saw many other on here.

I have the older version BDX hood and that ones has frogzskins on the top and directly on the front. They have gotten poked with a few sticks, but I've just put a dab of silicone on them to seal back up. The newer version like Duff has pictured only has them on the sides where they are protected much better.

the skinz is the one id consider. no experience, just seems like decent weight savings and doesnt require hacking your stock stuff all up. reversible basically? I'm not sold on the large nose cutouts and holes everywhere.

BDX was inexpensive, bought it during a black friday sale. It was alot of work to install but I'm satisfied so far. Had to dial in my PC5 because it ran real rich after the install. Could of also been because I moved the air intake sensor.

i have a bdx kit but have yet to install it. im thinkin about just doing the mountain fit headlight delete to keep the intake more stock.

Everyone we tested was not as good as stock except the Mountain fit. The Mountain fit is a little bit of work to assemble though.

Which mountain fit was that? Whole hood or the kit for cutting up the stock hood?

Mines stock other than y pipe and can. And not really wanting a controller. Thanks for that tip

I had the mountain fit headlight delete on my 12 HCR. It was a nice product and with a little head scratching and taking my time to make it all fit properly it worked great.
I have since upgraded to the BDX Ascender kit that i bought off of a buddy of mine and installed on the sled. I really wanted to keep my goggle bag so i integrated the old intake elbows into the kit solely to hold the goggle bag so it is feasible to do.

I had the old style BDX hood and took it off for the Mtn Fit. I’ll have a real good idea once it’s on the snow. Waiting for my lay down post to show up so I can finish cutting it up. I have the BDX Defender intake under it. We’ll see how it works soon.
