Ok, i put a 2002 rmk 700 into my IQR.
Started it up and i am getting a spark from my motor/pipe to the chassis....
Not sure what is goin on. Should the motor have a ground to the chassis?
Guess its time to start at the start with the wires.

Also, how crutial is it to have my timing at 18? It is at 20 right now.

2* isnt alot but could be the difference between a good tuneup and detonation. Run it at spec just for peace of mind.

diffently ground the motor before you start over agian with the motor electricity has to flow from earth(ground) to the soure(power) so when you pull over a sled it makes a current path which has enough volts to jump that air gap in the spark pulgs. but since the motor is not grounded it has to jump not only that gap but another gap which is going to be the next smallest gap to the chassis which porbably is by the pipe.

Ok,
I tore into the wiring. It needed to be cleaned up anyways.
Looks like i had two wires crossed....had the low beam light power going to the tach ground....ground tach going to the low beam.....same color wires. Made the mistake at the hood harness. Wiring is nice a clean now.
Should be good to go, i did ground the motor also.

Think i will retard the timing to spec (18)
