We just received the first real storm of the season. Conditions are horrible as there is only a couple of feet at elevation and still thin to no snow on the valley floor. Will need a couple more good storms to be in business.

Does anyone know if you can still connect from green gate to francis wallace? It appears there is a trail but I know that area has closures for Brundage. I am just getting back into sledding and not familiar with this area. Our place is across warren wagon from green gate. We are heading up Saturday for the week and looking forward playing in the snow.

Hi. Looking to make a trip up to McCall in a week or so. Curious how the coverage is this time of year? Down here in Tahoe the south facing aspects are getting quite thin (like dirt/rock in spots).

Also, any suggestions on staging/parking lots for a couple of snowbikers? Francis Wallace appears like you might be able to get off trail fairly quickly but is lower elevation. Gordon Titus sounds pretty popular being higher elevation but appears you'd have to stay on trail until you get past the ski resort? Any other areas besides Payette Lake worth checking out?

Francis Wallace Lot is losing it’s snow floor but the trail is still holding up fairly well. Just a short distance down the trail you hang a left. This gains elevation pretty fast on this route.
Or, head to Warm Lake which is 25 miles east of Cascade. From the parking area at Warm Lake you ride east up into the Landmark area. Both routes will get you into hours of snow biking.
Enjoy!

We found some nice snow despite the warming temps this past week. Coverage (at least compared to Tahoe) was still pretty solid. We even made the trek out to Secesh Stage Stop for a bite and beer which was cool.

Man, the deer in McCall have really made themselves comfortable in town - we had two walk right up to the truck while we were waiting to turn onto 3rd street.

Hopefully the system that is rolling in delivers enough to begin off trail riding. If anyone gets out in it report back!!! I am thinking of heading toMcCall in mid December.

Still need alot more snow. . . maybe 3 ft more. Landmines everywhere. Good time to break in a new sled on the trail though.

Hitting "hard" things is expensive. Not a good way to spend "fun dollars" :)

If you go out, be careful.

The Pineapple Express is beating the hell out of the West Central Mountains, been raining for 24 hours all the way up to 7,000 feet and the forecast calls for this to continue until Wednesday night.........this is horrible.......basically riding is suspended until cooler temperatures and snow fall return later in the week. Tamarack resort currently has the upper lift closed due to sustained high winds of 40 to 50 mph with gusts to 80 mph. This is a wild weather event!!!!!

Update December 30, 2022

Cooler temperatures and fresh snow have returned to the central mountain area.

Avalanche potential is high ........ so be careful out there.

Happy New Year
