Going from inline to deck over enclosed trailer

Have the opportunity to trade a 700 mi 800 Polaris rmk for a 8x22 Wells cargo sled trailer.

It looks very nice, no rust on the frame at all, low miles, new tires.
It is a 2001 MY.

Currently have a 7x18 + 5 legend aluminum frame enclosed trailer. It is just a hair too small for my needs.
I tow it out west from eastern nd, about 1000 no one way.

Is this a bad idea? Am I going to hate going from a aluminum inline to a steel deck over?
How much harder can I expect it to pull?
Pulling with a 2017 6.7 f350 srw

F350 will pull it with ease.

Out here we rarely see inlines unless they come from your direction.

I bought and in-line and used it for a couple season and sold it to get another 8.5” wide.

inlines pull nice but super duties don’t care

I’m from your area sell your inline and buy a longer one I had a 8.5 by 22 don’t miss it a bit. it will cost you at least 2 mpg and 10 to 15 mph when the wind is blowing hard. I have a 7 by 29 triton. If I buy another it would be 7.5 wide because narrow mt sleds will fit side by side

the deck over will catch more wind being up higher. loaded with sleds and if its a steel frame it should be stable enough. the trailer our group uses is an inline 27 foot but we all agree the "perfect"trailer would be 7.5 or 8 foot wide and a tad shorter. the width is nice to get the sleds side by side.

Another vote for a 7.5 wide!!

I've pulled 7 wide and 8.5 wide and for longer trips I would much rather have a slightly narrower trailer and lower. I think for a sled trailer the 7.5 is about perfect and I'm personally not a fan of the deck over trailers. The slightly narrower and lower trailers just pull much nicer then the wider versions and definitely better then a deck over.

If I only had to pull for a short distance, less then 200 miles then go with whatever fits the bill. Now it you have long trips 500 and 600 plus miles one way........then go 7.5. That's my .02cents.

I like deck over and wide. i use mine for utv and camping/hunting as much as snowmobiling. 7.5 makes it tough to get around utv, less space when camping. Low trailers are a pain in some dirt/gravel roads with clearance issues. I pull with a diesel and I don't notice either trailer much. And I will haul 6 plus hours a couple of times a year.

I’m surprised at the clearance of some inlines I see. Most of my deck overs end up with skid marks underneath from our access roads being a bit less than a beaten path.
