I use format factory ( freeware ) to convert the MP4 to WMV then use window's movie maker.

All free and work's ok for the beginer / intermediate editing.

I like using that WMM as well (because it came 'for free' on the laptop mostly), but have some issues publishing.

Have you been able to publish a vid file that actually comes out in HD? Even when I have it set up custom and publish in an HD format it still looks like a 480 at very best. Been looking at dropping some coin on an actual program because I can't figure out how to get a crisp file published. Any thoughts.

All other aspects of easy editing are great. Music, titles, transitions are all good enough for what I put together right now.

After I'm finished I convert it back to MP4 with the same program.

Often the final vid quality on a site such as Youtube, has a default of 480 or what ever they set it at. Youtube will let you select the higher resolution to view it in if your band width will take it.
