Danger on Turnagain Pass

There is a major construction project underway all across Turny. We are rebuilding the powerline from the bottom (Ingram Creek) to the top at Silvertip Creek.

There are many different heavy materials hidden in the snow. These are huge poles, culverts and concrete anchors. There is heavy equipment everywhere.

We have started standing the culverts on end and marking materials with lathes and 2x4s. Not everything gets marked and stuff is relocating all the time.

There have been reports of snowmachines being torn up by hitting things.:face-icon-small-sad

Please pay attention to the signs posted at all parking areas and along the right of way. We have started grooming a road n the non-motorized side, you cannot ride there without a special use permit.

Please be safe and ride with common sense. Conditions on our project are changing daily. There is some great riding now, but keep us in mind. We want you to go home tired, but safe at the end of the day.

Also note there are numerous laydown areas that we stage materials and equipment from. We are also clearing 24 access trails to the ROW. Any of these areas can have hidden materials along them.

Help us spread the word to be careful.

Thanks }:>

Avalanche season

There was a very large avalanche yesterday on the pass.

I hear it was 30' deep and 700' across. It appears to have started high on the mountain.

Be very careful up there and remember tha there is also construction materials scattered around the powerline!

Thanks
