A friend of mine just purchased (from a dealer near here) a brand new (0 miles) 2012 800 Pro RMK 155" with electric start, for $8900. This does not include tax, title, etc. Thought I would share this with everyone.:face-icon-small-coo

I would say he paid too much. You could buy them in the 9200 range last feb from Bristos in MN.

Being its mid august and the 2013's are arriving I would have beat them down into the 8500 range. Eric

If people are getting new ones for $8500 why do guys with used ones want $9000-$10000 for lowish mileage 12's? I think it was a good post to tell people to shop around!

I agree, I have been shopping for a sled lately, and what people want for used sleds in the classifieds is insane. I will just say I ended up getting a brand new hold over 11 doo, for less than anybody in the classifieds is trying to sell the same model with over 1000 miles for. I was looking at all the brands, and the used sled prices seem higher than ever. Why buy a used sled, when holdovers that are brand new with warrentys are cheaper?

So he is getting a new never used sled out the door for around $9500 depending on tax rate and lic fee. I don't know anyone that can buy a 2013 for that price out the door. Most people are probably around $11,000 plus for the 2013 OTD. So just because it is not a 2013 does not mean the sled is worth less. I love my 2012 Pro.

I too was kind of wondering why this was such a big deal.
I never mentioned it was a big deal. Just sharing information. Out the door it's around $2300-$2500 cheaper than a 2013. To some people that is a big deal. It was the deciding factor for him over the 2013.
His current sled is a 2001 RMK, so I believe he will be satisfied with his purchase.

It's good information for those shopping for a sled....I kind of figure that once you pull the cord sleds worth about 1/2 of what you just paid, and if you get more in a sale its a bonus. lol
And if you think sleds are bad, try selling a 1 year old pro stock car....

I bought my 13 for $10,785 out the door. I bought my 12 for $11,400.

2 different dealers, one of which is in the mountains and should have gotten me a better deal because of volume, but doesnt because they have the market.

I believe dealers are smart enough to know their market and surroundings, base their price off that and tell you to stick it. If each sled that came out of polaris was priced the same and sold for the same, there wouldnt be these problems with back and forth BS between customer and dealer.

BTW, I sold my 12 for $9500...thats cheaper then going to any dealer by the time its all said and done.

Yeah, but the one in question had zero miles on it and it doesn't matter if you purchase from a dealer or a private party the sales tax cost is still there in most cases so you have to figure that back on top of the price you sold it for.

If I sell anything to anyone I usually dont put the full purchase price on the bill of sale. Saves the buyer from paying what I already did.

11 155 =$9385
11 163 =$9620
12 155 =$10,500
12 163 =$10,680.

Kelly Blue Book
11 155 =$8315
11 163 =$8500
12 155 =$9270
12 163 =$9395

Most guys can see the market. It seems to me that the sleds that are at 10,000 to 11,000 have 2000-4000 worth of aftermarket stuff on them. I was trying to get 9500 for mine because it had 3000 worth of really useful mods done to it and only 500 miles. Buying didn't care about really any of it but the Airframes so we made a deal for 8950 without extras. He got the rest of the factory 4 year warranty which I have the cards for and I think those last 2 years of warranty are going to come in handy and are worth at least $1000 if you go after market. Drive train is stone stock so warranty is still valid too. What warranty did your buddy get Pro?

In the mountains its a different story than minnesota. If the dealer here offers us between $8500-$9000 on trade for a 2012 where's the incentive to sell it for any less than that? There might be a couple deals like that lying around but there are very few new 2012s to be found. I'm sure most of the high prices you're seeing are a result of how much we all live these sleds and a lot of people not really caring if they sell or not.

The warranty is worth more than you are saving by not buying it - unless you are full on modding. It can save your butt but also bring some value on resale. So this guy ended up buying a new '12 Pro for around $10k. You can find a '12 Pro with around 700 miles for around $8500 very easily. That's $1500 of goodies you can add.

I'm not sure what to think of Pro sales. Most popular sled by far right now. From the first post you would think my '11 Pro is worth about $6000. I'll keep it for another sled before I sell it that cheap. If I put it up I'll sell it for around $7200 with some of the stuff I have on it.

I would rather pay the extra $1500- and not have 700 miles on it. Everyone looks at it different-- but i know some of the things that happened to my sled in the first 700 miles (and you could never tell by looking at it). Why risk it.

Yeah and chances are the $1500 in goodies are not the same $1500 I would spend on extras. I guess the pro really doesn't need much to be a good sled right out of the box so I wonder what $1500-$4000 in extras was spend on. Just looks stuff anyway. Everyones taste is different on looks so take it for what its worth. I added a muffpot and a riser. Other than that I did custom decals and will probably do running boards in the future and possible some venting.
