seriously though, with the powerclaw track, adjustable steering post, tunnel update, re mapping, electronic reverse, etc... the 09 and newer are much improved

times that by 3 go 09 all the way! Full exhaust, new intake, and a controler and u already got an animal!
Do yourself a favor and listen to the guys that have owned them. 09 or newer. Awesome sled all the way around. BS

09 1000.....improved a bit each year....bdx lite arms onrear skid, wheels gone, float 2 shocks all around....boss seat...aggressive trail port, speedwerx y-pipe, stock pipe (tried two after market pipes, neither worked well), speedwerx tunnel dump can, 189 hp/138 ft/lb torque, boondocker fuel control, snopro air intake....all foam off stock hood, lights, etc, kept the stock tach/speedo....lots of venting.. diamond lite gear box/ lite weight brake rotor...excellent clutching....a couple of suspension geometry changes....twisted oil delete kit....full tank, ready to ride, 532 lbs, measured with one of the electronic hanging scales....pump gas turbos can't hang with me, race gas turbs whoop me, at least till they crap out (and they do crap out)

I'd go for 09. You can get them without the sally 162, the changes to 2010-2011 were VERY minimal, and the 2009, of the ones I've run with, was the strongest runner.
IF you can find a 2007 that has the original ECU (you'll never be 100% positive) and doesn't have some other issue, you'll be doing well, BUT... then you've got to spend a few grand just trying to catch up to the updates that the 2009's have for free, and you can't do engine reverse while keeping the original ecu mapping... so you lose there no matter what you do.
