Are the specs out for the 2011's yet? I believe the 2009- 2010 163's had 12.4 gram hollow pins with 25 mm set screws @ 3.81 grams(16.21 set-up).441 ramps with 200-320 primary spring ,43/47 reverse helix with Purple 225/300 secondary spring and 21/49 gearing.

The '11 E-tech proto's had the same setup (at least the one did that I'm aware of). Not sure what they'll be doing for production but we'll be all over finding a better setup as soon as the snow flies.

Purple/Green 160/260
440 ramps from the 600's
Purple secondary spring.
I have the part # for the helix, but the angle number(s) is at my office (im still out on construction rite now)
Oh man I am pumped about the 440's they are beauty and gonna work well with the 11....specially with something I been testing last season...for this season...tee hee hee
I think they BRP is ending this chassis platform with a bang!

Kind of off topic.... but while out West last spring I ran into a pretty reliable source within the sled mag industry (ie he rides stuff years out). He "hinted" to me there would be a new chassis next year with doo. It doesn't seem right with doo's 5 year chassis schedule and economy, but gave me the wink. It will be interesting!

A reverse helix for a big track sled used in the deep is silly. I know why they do it....they have other things to think about besides strictly performance.

For the uninformed (such as myself), explain why the reverse helix is inferior?

I hope I wasn't being singled out as if I said the word "inferior":face-icon-small-hap ....because I didn't say that.

A reverse angle helix is a great setup for drag racing to maximum clutch shift either 1:1 or full overdrive across a flat with little to no load change.
Their reverse helix is a grass drag secret let out of the bag....but change the load as the mph increases, at higher mphs and deeper snow loads at higher sled speeds and the rpms will start to suffer. Flick the throttle once at high speeds of like 50~55 mph and the rpms slow to recover.

When you gear lower you effectively put the secondary roller farther out on the helix angle at a larger angle.

I quote Aaen; larger angles reduce belt clamp force, smaller angle increase belt clamp force.

To answer your question and add to it, both doo and cat will see new chassis for 2012 model year. Going to be and awesome year 2012.

For the uninformed (such as myself), explain why the reverse helix is inferior?

It's great for keeping RPM down at cruising speeds....thereby reducing noise and helping meet noise standards and upping MPG...something Doo must consider.
The heavier/bigger the track and the more load applied (like seen in a mtn situation) the shallower a helix needs to be to maintain belt squeeze/provide quick backshift. A helix should (IMO) be matched with the amount of belt contact area....so when you shift out farther, the helix needs to apply more squeeze to reduce slippage/heat. A reverse helix is doing the opposite....making more heat and slower backshift, especially after repeated runs at a hill.
Of course it's not JUST the helix, the entire primary/secondary setup has to work "together".
We'll be looking for gains for the climber/boondocker as soon as the snow flies.
For alot of guys, the stock setup may be fine....just depends on the type of riding you do.

Anyone know if 2009 2010 clutch parts (helixes, springs, shockwave etc) will fit in the 2011 summit e-tec clutches? Thanks

Yes. And the '11's will have yet another different secondary adjuster. Besides that, they are the same to the best of my knowledge.
