my clutching seems to be in pretty good overall, holds good RPM etc etc. BUT, my primary is definately showing signs of slippage right from takeoff. there is a little black and there is definately some wear on the sheave from it slipping.

gearing is right around 2:1 ratio, like a normal trx is. 162.. I have the secondary in the higher preload slot and was wondering if that would caust it to be loading the primary to much from takeoff.. or if its something else?

Need more info:

What primary spring you should be using a BWB
What size rollers
What secondary spring and at what setting?
What exact gearing?

alright.. time to dig through my brain.

secondary is totally stock, with the spring in the higher preload setting, not sure the terminology with it.

gearing is 23/47.. i think thats 2.03:1
14.5 rollers
blue green blue primary
the big yami weights loaded, not really sure what they are.

Sounds like your Johnson Rod is bad. Better check that blinker fluid also. low on that and it will load up of the start real bad ;)

The largest bottom gear you can put in a Yamaha chaincase is a 42. Are you using the Doo case? The 14.5 rollers are good. I have no idea on that primary spring BWB is the standard turbo spring these days. A Cat green or EPI purple in the secondary works well set at 0 and 1. The secondary clutch has about 10 different setting combinations. A soft secondary will shift out too fast and cook your belt. Again as far as weights go Yami makes about 50 different profiles so what you have could be anything. I use Heavy Hitters with 60gram base but Supertips and Daltons also work well. IMO you need an adjustable primary weight if you want to get it set up right but thats JMO.

I think I got some ideas.. I realized I could just call the yami dealer that hooked me up, he knows his stuff.. and I am learning more how the secondary holes actually work.

yeah, i have the doo chaincase.. the RT ones are beefy.. double upper bearings.. got hyvo chain.. shes set for power.

I am going to work on figuring something out with the secnodary.., its so easy to swap holes for the spring, easy to test on the hill.

I don't really know a ton about Doo's but don't they use 10 tooth drivers? If they do then that also really alters your final drive ratio. A yamaha running 7 tooth 3.0 drivers with a ratio of 2:1 will be effectively geared much lower than a 10 tooth 2.86 at 2:1 because of the diameter difference of the drivers.

not running stock drivers. got some 8 tooth 3 pitches.. so those are kinda big actually, 20% larger then stock yami drivers.. I wonder if im somewhat overgeared and its overloading the thing off the line??

Ya that and the fact that the stock secondary spring is too weak. Get the Cat green spring, they are like 20 bucks and set it at 0 1. This will hold you in low gear slightly longer and it improves the backshift.

hmm.. that sounds like a good idea.. cuz right now the thing hammers out of the hole like a MOFO.. give it WOT and your digging to china fast.. it comes on like crap. I will have to look into the cat spring.

Stock 03 helix is 43 degrees. Did you mean purple EPI spring cause its the same spring as the Cat green if you did.
