Dynamo Joe Kit

I just put in DJ's kit in my sled and was wondering what weights some of you are running. I have a 2009 800R 163" with 20t gear and an MBRP can. I weigh just about 300lbs full gear and ride at about 3500-7500 feet and was looking for someone with a similar setup as me so I can get a ballpark figure. Initial testing with 15.9 grams @ clicker 4 actually blew me away a little bit but noticed in a really loaded up condition I was only pulling 8000rpm. Snow conditions are horrible right now so its kind of hard to get an accurate place to test my setup. I have a buddy with a 2009 800R 154" thats spinning almost 18 grams of weight on clicker 4 but something doesn't sound right about that. Also, I installed a new belt after I put the kit in and now my belt squeels when I come to a stop and my clutch actually sticks a bit. Belt looks a little high in the secondary but nothing serious. Any suggestions?

I've been running 15.3 grams in mine for a couple of years now. Switching between clicker 3 down low and clicker 4 up high. Typically we are riding between 3500 and 6000 ft. Only difference is Iwas running stock gearing which is 21/49. Never had any belt issues in 1500k.

15.3 grams. 09 146, 6000' - 9000'. Tried 15.8 first and was running clicker 5. Now on clicker 4 mostly. Sounds like your belt deflection is a little tight.

I ran the suggested 15.3 grams, and was real close, but still diddnt seem to be getting the r's i thought it should at about 6000' Wanted to drop about 3/4 of a gram, but ended up putting a pipe on which changed the pin weight dramatically. This was all with the 09 163'' 21/47 gearing. Just recently dropped a tooth on the top. Made very little, but some difference on the bottom end. joes kit works well. I was going to go with another one, but it took a week for them to call me back, and i'm an impatient SOB. This sled is actually the first one that really blew me away with the way the stock clutching was set up.Hope that was helpful.

Ramps!

If you haven't, get rid of the 441 stock ramps and either get Joe's or through in a set of 415's that really makes joe's kit work! I had to go from 15.3 to 15.8 when i changed ramps and geared 19/47 on a 09 163 and this beaach pulls like none other!

Hello. If you had 15.9g on the calibration sheet for 09~10 model that was an older sheet and has been revised Dec 09.

441 ramps
3500~8000 = 15.3g start
8000~10000 = 14.5g start
10000+ = 13.9g start

It's ok to pay attention to what others run for pinweight but in the end you and your sled are an individual so tailor the pinweight to your own requirement and go by the flyweight law. (1g = approximate 200 rpms @ full throttle)

Here is example, have a few guys who are down in the 12.3g range at 10000 feet and then have other owners who are at 13.6.
It's like stock from factory, most sleds same year, same model/track/driver weight will tach the same on a hill side by side and then you'll find one that runs much weaker or stronger than the rest of them.

Why is that?
Different engine fitness (compression, piston to wall clearance, tolerances)
Engine management (rave system performance)

I mentioned before about engine fitness.
Like my 08, 125 lbs and 137hp on the dyno. I couldn't pull more ponies out of that if you held a gun to my head. Then get a buddy of mine Mark's 08 engine and it's 159 hp with a mere set of flavor-of-the-week reeds. His compression stock 155lbs.
There will be a flyweight difference, I can't run the pinweight he does nor the primary spring final force he does.
I run a 200/350 with 23g in clicker 4 and he can run 200/320 with 25g in clicker 4

If you follow this guide....
(1g = approximate 200 rpms @ full throttle)
Then does not matter what you have, you can push off the dock with x-pinweight and then tailor the pinweight to your own personal requirements to get 8200.

thanks
joey
