I see that gates makes a belt that is suppose to be a better belt than ski doos 377. Was wondering is anyone had any input on this if was true or not and if anyone had tried on their own sled. I can get this belt from local parts dealer for $60 if I can get some good input I'm going to try it. Even if would last the same as the ski doo belt I can buy 2 and half belts for the price of one. Thanks:face-icon-small-hap

looks like you guys beat me to the reply, QBALL number is right #50-4395.

Your right this is the newest no, as for know, but gates is telling us that a new top cog belt is on the way, and will be the altimate belt. Its made with new materials, for heat and wear resistance. I want one, then we'll see how it works, in real life.

Whats the difference between the 08 and 09 belt by gates? Will the 08 belt not work with the 09, the 09 is harder for me to get at the local store.

The 08 gates (43x4320) is comparable to the doo 166 where the 09 gates (50x4395) is comparable to the doo 377. You defiently want the 09 belt, the 08 166 is the wrong size for the XP's and creates more heat and slippage - therefore decrease belt life and decreased performance. This is the reason doo developed the 377 belt.

Has anybody on here actually had one of these gates belts replaced under warranty, how much of a hassle was it, no questions asked?

No Hassle exchange

I have run Gates extreme for 2 years and have had 2 replaced without any problems, ( Belt must be broken not worn out) But my 860 BB pulls 5 mph track speed with the doo 377 than than the gates.

All what is the Gates belt part number for a 2010 XP 154"? Looking for Gates equivalent to Ski Doo 288?

Also, 2009 XP 146"? Looking for Gates Equivalent to Ski Doo 377?

Thanks!

FYI. This is what I got back from a very well respected opinion on this subject.

We recommend only the Doo -377 or -288. Have seen the Gates and Carlisle belts cost guys cranks, footwells, clutch guards, side panels etc.....they are garbage. They work fine until they come apart...no warning, no smell, no pitching strings, just a violent explosion. But they might warranty the belt, just not all the damage they cause.
