cut the axle to 8 7/8"or 8 15/16" and the spacer to 4 1/4", after you cut the axle, drill it out as straight as you possible can and tap it with a 3/8" tap. You can just leave one side stock and use the 3/8s bolt on one side. i believe i used corse thread. Then you take the adusters and put them on the inside. after all this, you should get some thick aluminum washers to use on the outside for the bolts.

I just did this, however I wanted to use the stock bolt and stock style washer ( I made another on the lathe), to do it this way the spacer size is correct, but the axle needs to be 9 1/4" so that enough protrudes past the rail to center the washer on either side.
