-09 M8 standard model
-162 powerclaw track
-SLP pipe and silencer
-SLP porting and head mod
-Power commander III fuel box
-SLP intake
-SLP powder pro ski's
-Both primary and secondary clutch balanced at SLP
-74G MTX weights with no rivets in primary and 160/310 primary spring
-Secondary has stock orange spring with SLP 44/36 helix
-This clutching setup ran 8100-8200 rpm at 8-10K
-Engagement is about 3600RPM
-Stock gears
-Rider weight 210 lbs.
-Had 09 Boss seat but just purchased a 2010 cat seat. I liked the Boss but it was hard on the butt.
-This thing performs awesome and I have been very happy with it. I love the 44/36 helix as it takes off hard and still backshifts great. I was worried about having all the porting done and than spending countless hours messing with the fuel box to get it to run good but everything worked perfect and I never even touched it. The one thing I regret was not changing out the helix sooner. I was worried that it would screw up all my clutching and that I would be messing with it all the time. 44/36 helix made a very nice improvement.

What altitude do you ride at. I ride 6-10K and when I had just the pipe I had to run a heavier primary spring with my 70G weights to see 8000rpm, however, mine was a 162. I have also heard that the shift assist can drop you 100-200 rpm so just ride it and see. You might just need to install a slp blue/yellow 140/310 to get a little more RPM. I would have slp install the 40/36 helix while they have it. Very worth it in my opinion.

2009 M8 SP 162 SLP pipe set, CPC 70-80g weights, Cat gold primary spring, 70g weight and stock secondary yeld just under 8000 rpm at 8-10K, rider weight is 185lbs. Going to try a shift assist or a CPC secondary set up and drop a gram or two in weight in the primary(new weights) to get 8100-8200rpm.

m8 CLUTCHING

07 M8

153 p claw track
geared down
DD y pipe
Boss Seat
trimmed tunnel and bumper
cold air intake
all vented panels
floats all corners

73 gram cat weight ground lite tip to 69
gold cat spring
36 helix w shift assist both ends of spring BDX adjust end cap
stock cat orange secondary spring
white cap screwed in 1.75 turns vaires day to day
stock belt
ran this spring time 4000-8000 ft

fall and fluff
72 gram cat weight
40/36 helix
white adjuster about 2 turns
looking for powder traction

I have bought and sold quite a pile of aftermarket clutch parts, but try to find best setup with easy to use / cheap / avaialable parts.

07 and later series M series MUSt DO

Can obnoxious stock no adjust HELIX !!!!! has to go, go back to 05 set up or better is BDX.......both cheap, you have to have on the fly spring pressure adjustment for razor sharp clutching

SERIOUS about the hills.........gear it down.

MUST Have cold clean air intake if you ride every weekend regardless of conditions. If you choose riding days and go when its sunny and warm and just right with wife and kids........foreget this.
Gear it down

I am running:

2009 M8 SP 153
SLP Y pipe, Pipe, Can
SLP Intake
Primary: AC Gold Spring, Culter Adjustable Weights @ 70gm
Secondary: Cutler DD Conversion with Orange/White spring (required for electronic reverse)
Stock M8 Gearing (57/63)
I weigh 210

This setup pulls 8100+ when riding 4-7000'

I will be installing BDX 54/66 gearing and a DD Lite tonight and will test it out this weekend.

2009 M8 162 Sno Pro running mostly around 9000 ft

Stock with Jaws Can

70 gram light tip cat weights
Stock yellow/white primary spring
D&D torsional kit with 42/36 progressive helix and sno pro green spring

Tried stiffer primary springs and gotta say I like the stock primary spring a lot better. However, engagement is high at around 4000 RPM. Would prefer 3500 myself.

Setup is very snappy and track speed is around 40 MPH. RPM is a little high at around 7900. Could maybe use 71 or 72 grams instead.

Stock except for -15 lbs of stuff taken off or replaced 'cause it was there. No exhaust changes yet.

105ish to 300ish primary spring (D&D white they list as 135-330).
old style cutlers (65 to 75) set at 69.4 with most in the middle but will try another .5 gr less or so.

D&D tortional modified to work with elec. reverse.
D&D purple set at 19 lbs of pull
40/36 dalton reverse type helix modified not to hit in reverse.

3250 engagement and 8000ish shift at 5000' to 6000'.

Love the new motor, just needed a bit of fuel down low and mid (shouldve been this way stock).
Love the Burant kit in the rear (should've been this way stock).
Love the OEM Floats,, revalved to Burant specs, I put on the front (shouldve been this way stock LOL).
Love the custom venting and hood lift (shouldve been that way stock).

Only thing left is the SLP pipe for a bit more run out rpm and -20ish lbs (I`ll find something else to throw away too)
